Registration Terms and Conditions for FEBS 2021

Organization of the 45th FEBS Congress

FEBS has appointed the Slovenian Biochemical Society (SBD) to host the 2020 (now 2021) Congress (the "Congress") in collaboration with the Croatian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (HDBMB), supported by the Congress Secretariat, Dekon Kongre ve Turizm Hizmetleri A.Ş (“Dekon”). Dekon is responsible for organizational aspects of the Congress for participants. On registering for the event, participants (also referred to as "you") are entering an agreement with Dekon. By registering to the Congress, you are indicating your acceptance to the terms and conditions set out below.

Registration Fee

All participants must register via the online registration system. Registration Fees for different categories of Congress participant registering from 1 October 2020 are shown on the Registration page here. Online registration will be closed on 22 June 2021. 

Registration Fee for Participants includes:

  • Admission to all scientific sessions
  • Entrance to poster & exhibition area
  • Lunches and coffee breaks
  • Name badge, and program booklet if requested
  • Congress bag
  • Invitation to Welcome Reception
  • Ljubljana bus pass, supported by Ljubljana Municipality, valid during the Congress

Registration Fee for Accompanying Persons includes:

  • Invitation to Welcome Reception
  • Ljubljana bus pass, supported by Ljubljana Municipality, valid during the Congress

Travel and accommodation costs are not covered by the registration fee.

Methods of Payment

Payments can be made via bank transfer or credit card. Payment must be made before the stated deadline that applies to your application.

Payment via Bank Transfer

All fees should be paid in EUR (€), free of all bank charges. Participant’s Name/Last Name and Congress Name (as FEBS2021) must be indicated on the transaction receipt of the bank transfer. Following the payment, receipt of the transaction must be sent to the Congress Secretariat. If you do not receive confirmation of your payment within 14 business days after the payment, please contact the Congress Secretariat.

Payment via Credit Card

Visa or Mastercard are accepted for credit card payments, which can be made online during the registration process. Confirmation of your credit card payment, along with registration confirmation, will be made available immediately after payment by an on-screen message and via an email. If you do not receive such a confirmation, nor a payment failure notice, please contact the Congress Secretariat. Online payments service provider: Türkiye İş Bankası

Final Invoice

The final invoice will be available to download on registrant web accounts automatically after the conference is over. The invoice will be issued based on details provided while registering (invoice details).

Registration Cancellation & Refund Policy

All registration cancellation requests should be sent to the Congress Secretariat in writing by e-mail to febs2021@dekongroup.com. For registration cancellation requests received by Dekon:

  • Until 6 April 2021, for FEBS Bursary and Sprinzl scheme registrants only – a full registration fee refund will be given if requested if the registrant is not accepted into one of these support schemes. 
  • Until 6 April 2021 – 50 EUR administrative fee will be deducted from all other registration fee refunds. 
  • From 6 April to 2 June 2021 – 50% of the registration fees will be refunded.
  • All refunds will be processed within 30 days after the Congress ends.   
  • From 3 June 2021 - no refund will be given.

Cancellation of other bookable items:

  • Until 2 June 2021 – 20 EUR administrative fee will be deducted from all refunds. 
  • From 3 June 2021 – no refund will be given.

Travel Insurance

You must not attend the Congress if you are displaying symptoms of COVID-19 or are required to place yourself in quarantine. You should seek and follow the advice of your government before booking travel and accommodation for the Congress and before travelling to the event. You are solely responsible for making your own appropriate travel and other insurance arrangements before booking travel and accommodation for the Congress. FEBS and Dekon shall not be liable to you for any losses incurred as a result of travel restrictions being placed against you or against certain countries due to COVID-19.

Modification and Cancellation of the Congress

The Congress organizers are intending to run the Congress as a physical event, but if the organisers decide at any time that it is not possible to continue with a physical event due to pandemic or other such restrictions, the Congress may be held as an online meeting. The Congress organisers will give you as much advance notice as possible of whether the physical Congress is going ahead.  Please note that we will not offer refunds if the virtual Congress goes ahead. The Congress organizers reserve the right to modify the Congress programme, whether physical or online, which is published as an indication only.

If the physical and virtual Congress is cancelled we will refund you the registration fee. We will only cancel the whole Congress as a result of circumstances outside of our reasonable control, including (but not limited to) pandemic, natural disaster, adverse weather conditions, fire or closure of airports.

Neither FEBS nor SBD nor HDBMB nor Dekon shall be held liable for any other costs or losses incurred.

Disclaimer

The Congress organizers take all reasonable care in making arrangements, and shall follow all available guidance from the Slovenian government in relation to making the Congress COVID-19 safe. They act only as agents in securing hotels, transport and travel services, and shall in no event be liable for acts or omissions in the event of injury, damage, loss, accident delay or irregularity of any kind whatsoever during arrangements organized through contractors. Hotel and transportation services are subject to the terms and conditions under which they are offered to the general public.

In the absence of any negligence or other breach of duty by FEBS, SBD, HDBMB or Dekon, these parties shall not be responsible for any bodily injury, illness, death or property damages (including theft) sustained by participants during the Congress.

In any event, neither FEBS nor SBD nor HDBMB nor Dekon accept liability for damages or costs in the event of bodily injury, death, property damage, illness, disruption to travel plans and costs incurred as a result of events outside of the reasonable control of FEBS, SBD, HDBMB or Dekon, including (but not limited to) pandemic, natural disaster, adverse weather conditions, fire or closure of airports.

Governing Law

Any dispute resulting from the above terms and conditions will be subject to Slovenia’s law, and by accepting these terms you are submitting yourself to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Slovenia.
